Our cover photo was taken at Crossroads Village, one of the Genesee County Parks, located just north of Flint, Michigan. This magical place looks like it’s been a bustling community for more than 100 years, so we were surprised to learn that each of the more than 30 historic buildings were moved here – brick, board and stone – from communities all across Genesee County. In this picturesque setting, alongside Mott Lake, they have been preserved, furnished and put back into use, so you can experience first-hand what life was like in a small Michigan village in the mid-1800s.
In the background are the sturdy turn-of-the century train depot moved to the Village from Davison and the caboose of the Huckleberry Railroad. This authentic narrow-gauge train, with its two Baldwin steam engines and several restored cars, takes visitors on a 40-minute ride through the Genesee County countryside.
We’d like to extend a special thank you to Dave Tallenger for letting us use his 1956 Corvette on the C-1 cover, Philippe Burney for letting us use his 1971 Corvette on the C-3 cover, and Crossroads Village for letting us use their grounds for an incredible backdrop.
